Coming Home - Mar, 2008

March, 2008 - Pequot Lakes, MN - Penned by Steve Pierce of the Antique Snowmobile Club of America, Vol. 23 No. 4 of the club's bi-monthly Iron Dog Tracks newsletter featured an excellent cover article titled "Coming Home." This heartwarming story provided a brief overview of Trail-A-Sled, Inc, and Scorpion snowmobiles, as well as the Harrison family. Homecoming 2008 was noted as well as a promo for Homecoming 2009.

Homecoming 2008

February 2, 2008 - Crosby, MN - Milder temperatures brought hundreds of exhibitors and on-lookers to the Cuyuna Range Chamber of Commerce's fourth-annual Scorpion Homecoming. Held once again on Crosby's Serpent Lake, the Homecoming featured the 1970 Stinger, of which 22 were displayed. For a full review of this exciting event, please link to our Homecoming 2008 page.

Pequot Rendezvous - 2008

January 19, 2008 - Pequot Lakes, MN - The coldest temperatures of the year (-20 Fahrenheit) didn't keep a dedicated contingent of antique snowmobilers from attending this year's event. Of special note for Scorpion fans was the fascinating keynote address by former Scorpion Squadron member David "Mouse" Karpik of BLADE Motorsports Group, Inc.. Trail-A-Sled, Inc./Scorpion, Inc. co-founder Dick Harrison's was also on hand with a few excellent machines (Dick's zero-mileage 1972 Stingerette won People's Choice). Industry patriarch Edgar Hetteen and his son and daughter-in-law Ronn and Nila attended with their fascinating historical videos. Also present was Cliff Kittelson, former Trail-A-Sled foreman and racer who once held the world's distance jumping record on a Trail-A-Sled and Don Peterson who raced the Duluth Indoor for Scorpion. The Pequot Lakes Echo was present as was the American Snowmobiler television show which covered most of the event. Look for an October, 2008 airing on FSN North.

Life, Liberty, and the Small-Bore Engine - Aug, 2007

August 22, 2007 - Baltimore, MD - The John Hopkins University Press publishes Motorized Obsessions - Life, Liberty, and the Small-Bore Engine. Penned by Professor Paul R. Josephson, this well-researched volume presents a compelling history of the internal combustion engine. While raising significant cause for environmental concern, Prof. Josephson does provide a balanced recap of Trail-A-Sled, Inc. and Scorpion it's second chapter titled, Elk-Snowmobile Syndrome.

The Golden Years - Aug, 2007

August, 2007 - Hampshire, IL - Noted collectibles author Jon D. Bertolino announced the release of Vintage Snowmobiles, The Golden Years 1968-1982. This high-quality pictorial guide is an absolute must for all vintage hobbyists. For Scorpion fans, the book includes an extensive review of the brand, with high-quality photographs and fascinating narrative throughout.
